The Continuing Education Department at Kankakee Community College is offering a variety of computer skills classes.

All of the Microsoft Word and Excel courses cover Microsoft Office Specialist examination objectives.

“Beginning Microsoft Excel 2016” is for beginners to gain hands-on experience. Topics include how to work with formulas and functions, enter and edit data, edit charts, and format worksheets. Practice during the class is included. Instructor is Kris Condon, Class meets Thursday, Jan. 23 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at KCC in Room D122. Cost is $124, includes text. Prerequisite is Introduction to Microsoft Windows or equivalent experience.

In “Intermediate Excel,” participants will learn to manipulate large worksheets: use multiple worksheets and workbooks: customize Excel; apply advanced formatting; use Excel as a list manager; perform advanced charting options; use auditing and comments features; and create and manage templates. Instructor is Kris Condon. Class meets Thursday, Jan. 30 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $125, includes text. Prerequisite is Introduction to Microsoft Excel or equivalent experience.

“Advanced Microsoft Excel” shares techniques for working with multiple worksheets and workbooks; using LOOKUP functions and formula auditing; sharing and protecting workbooks; data validation; creating sparklines; and mapping and forecasting data. Instructor is Kris Condon. Class meets Thursday, Feb. 6 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $125, includes text.

“Introduction to Personal Computers Using Microsoft Windows 10” will share how to create documents, work with files and folders, send email, browse the internet, and share information with others using File Explorer and OneDrive. Prerequisite is previous exposure to personal computers, desktop applications and the internet. Instructor is Kimberly Schott. Meets Tuesday, March 17 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $125.

“Beginning Microsoft Word 2016” includes how to edit and format documents; move and copy text; create and manage tables; control page layout; and proof and print documents. Instructor is Kris Condon. Meets Thursday, March 19 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $125, includes text. Prerequisite is Introduction to Microsoft Windows or equivalent experience.

The “Intermediate Word” class shows how to work with styles, sections and columns; format tables; print labels and envelopes; create templates and use building blocks; work with graphics and objects; and manage document revisions. Instructor is Kris Condon. Class meets Thursday, March 26 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $125, includes text. Prerequisite is Beginning Word or equivalent experience.

“Advanced Microsoft Word” teaches how to use tools to go beyond simple word processing, such as advanced image manipulation, collaboration features, cross-referencing and linking, entry forms and data collection, security features, and automating document production. Instructor is Kris Condon. Class meets Thursday, April 2 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $125, includes text.  Prerequisite is Intermediate Microsoft Word or equivalent experience.
