GSA Statewide Summit
On Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., KCC will host and sponsor the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) Statewide Summit in the Iroquois Room. Students and the community are invited.
The keynote speaker will be Brian Johnson, the CEO of Equality Illinois. The event also includes the following breakout sessions:
- Starting and Sustaining a GSA - presented by Robert De Oliveira and Katie Bretzlaff of Kankakee School District
- Mental Health and the LGBTQ+ community - presented by Dr. Jessica Norman from Transformative Growth Counseling
- Supporting Transgender Students - presented by Daniel Julius, Transcend Program Assistant from Youth Outlook
Lunch will be provided. A $5 donation is suggested to offset the cost.
KCC is located south of downtown Kankakee off River Road, near U.S. 45-52, or take Interstate 57 to Exit 308 and follow the signs. Directions are online at kcc.edu/directions.
Kankakee Community College is an accredited two-year college which awards associate degrees and certificates of completion. KCC prepares students both to transfer to four-year colleges and to enter the workforce. The college also offers continuing education courses and certification training, literacy programs, English as a Second Language and GED preparation.
