Cavalier mascot tryouts!

KCC is hosting tryouts for the role of the Cavalier mascot on Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the KCC Gymnasium.
The selected student mascot will represent KCC at athletic games, student events, campus celebrations, and community functions. The complete job description and list of qualifications is online. To review, go to KCC's student job openings page and find the mascot description.

Audition requirements & format
Candidates will complete practical performance evaluations, including freestyle dance, crowd engagement, improvisation, and silent pantomime. Applicants might also be asked to test the mascot head to assess fit, visibility, and physical mobility.
In-person participants must bring:
- Current class schedule
- List of semester commitments (work, athletics, and personal)
- Athletic attire and appropriate footwear
Video Submissions
Students unable to attend the live tryouts can submit a video application to studentlife@kcc.edu by Sept. 20, 2026. Use the email subject line “KCC Mascot Audition – [Full Name].” Submissions must include:
- Brief out-of-costume personal introduction
- 30–60 second crowd hype performance
- Freestyle dance demonstration
- Non-verbal pantomime or improvisation scenario
