Information on Canvas data breach

This week, Instructure, the parent company of Canvas has experienced a cybersecurity incident. Along with many other colleges and universities, Canvas is KCC's learning management system provider.

On Thursday, May 7, Canvas experienced a temporary service interruption that affected colleges and universities nationwide. Service has been restored.

KCC faculty members will communicate directly with students if assignments, quizzes, tests or deadlines have been impacted.

General precautions:

• Do not click suspicious links or unexpected emails related to the outage.
• Only log in to Canvas through official college links and bookmarks.
• Use strong passwords and enable multi-factor authentication when available.
