Costume Contest

Join us for some Halloween fun and showcase your creativity and school spirit!

Whether you go spooky, funny, or classic, we can’t wait to see your best costume ideas!

Details

  • Date: Wednesday, October 29, 2025
  • Location: KCC College Center
  • Time: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. (Judging at noon)
  • Theme: Superheroes and Cartoon Characters

Eligibility:

  • The contest is open to all current KCC students, faculty, and staff.
  • Participants may enter individually or as part of a group (maximum of 3 people per group).
  • Contestants must register at the Student Life Table prior to judging at noon.

Categories:

  • Best Individual Costume
  • Most Creative/Original Costume
  • Best Superhero or Character Theme (2025 Theme)

Rules/judging:

Contest rules are:

  • Costumes must be appropriate for a college setting:
    • No excessive gore, nudity, or sexually suggestive attire.
    • No profanity or hate symbols of any kind.
    • No costumes that could be considered offensive, discriminatory, or culturally insensitive.
  • Masks may only be worn during judging.
  • Weapons or weapon-like props (including toy guns, knives, or swords) are not permitted.
  • Participants must be able to move freely and safely without obstructing walkways or creating hazards.
  • Costumes must comply with KCC’s Code of Conduct and Public Safety guidelines.
  • The judges’ decisions are final.
  • By participating, contestants consent to photos and videos taken during the event for KCC promotional use.

Costumes will be judged based on the following:

  • Creativity & Originality – Is the idea unique and imaginative?
  • Effort & Craftsmanship – Was time and detail clearly put into the costume?
  • Theme Relevance – Does it connect with this year’s superhero or character theme?
  • Overall Presentation – Stage presence, confidence, and fun factor!

Prizes:

Winners will receive gift cards and KCC swag! Prizes will be awarded immediately following the judging.
