2024 High School Art Show on display

Students from 10 local schools will display their original artwork during the 35th annual Kankakee Community College High School Juried Art Exhibition in March.

The show runs March 11 to March 20 in the art wing and Miner Memorial Library of Kankakee Community College. Hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday.

A reception, awards presentation and juror's critique will be held on the final evening of the exhibit, Wednesday, March 20, from 6-7:30 p.m. Awards in categories such as Painting, Color Drawing/Design, Photography/electronic imaging and 3-D Design will be revealed at 7:15 p.m. Jurors are the KCC art faculty.

"The High School Art Show is always an inspiring event. Visitors will find the works full of passionate effort and imagination," said Chelise Slowik, a KCC art professor. "Overall, it is a beautiful display of our future local artists. Plan to come out, experience our beautiful gallery space, and enjoy the event!"

High schools participating in the exhibit are

  • Bishop McNamara Catholic High School,
  • Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School,
  • Grace Christian Academy,
  • Grant Park High School,
  • Herscher High School,
  • Manteno High School,
  • Momence High School,
  • Pontiac High School,
  • St. Anne Community High School, and
  • Watseka Community High School.

The exhibit is sponsored by KCC's Visual Arts Department.
