Kankakee Community College will celebrate Black History Month with a guest lecture, “We’re all in this together," on Wednesday, Feb. 20 from noon - 1 p.m. in the KCC auditorium.

This event is free and the public is invited.

Lecia Rives will discuss the differences and misunderstandings that often bring conflict in a diverse and global world and how we can work together to improve race relations and better humanity.

Rives is a comedienne, motivational speaker and author. She is the author of “Get Up and Be Somebody®” and “Campus Superstars”; and the voice of the “Get Up and Be Somebody® Motivational Moment” on iHeart Radio in St. Louis. In addition, Rives is creator and host of “Laugh Out Loud St. Louis,” an award-winning clean television comedy produced by her company, LJR Entertainment, LLC.

Rives also has produced a documentary, “The Color of Healing” and performs a one-woman show, “Dreamin Outta My Mind,” which she wrote.

Rives has a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee State University, Nashville and a law degree from Howard University School of Law.
