The Continuing Education Department at Kankakee Community College is offering five non-credit computer classes this winter.

  • “OneNote” will show how to efficiently create and collect notes electronically to capture ideas, meeting notes and to-do items. The class uses Microsoft® Office OneNote® 2016 to organize and store a wide variety of content, which can be accessed from anywhere and shared with others. Instructor is Kris Condon. The course has February and April options. The class in February will be Thursday, Feb. 21 from 1-5 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $65. Course number is COMP 9040.A16. In April, the class meets Wednesday, April 10 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $65. Course number is COMP 9040.A26.
  • The “Advanced Excel” class covers topics such as working with multiple worksheets and workbooks; using LOOKUP functions and formula auditing; sharing and protecting workbooks; data validation; creating sparklines; and mapping and forecasting data. Microsoft Office Specialist Expert-level exam competencies will be covered. Instructor is Kris Condon. Class meets Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $125. Course number is DAPR 305A.A16.
  • “Beginning Word” teaches how to efficiently edit documents; move and copy text; distinguish between character and paragraph formatting; create and manage tables; control page layout features—including headers and footers, margins and page breaks; and proof and print documents. Microsoft Office Specialist examination objectives will be covered. The prerequisite is Introduction to Microsoft Windows or equivalent experience. Instructor is Kris Condon. Class meets Wednesday, March 13 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $125. Course number is DAPR 333A.A16.
  • In “Basic Computer Skills (Personal Computers),” there is hands-on instruction in navigating and customizing the desktop, creating, finding and saving files. Topics also include opening, creating and saving Microsoft Word files. Participants will learn about photos as well, including how to download, insert, and email photos to family and friends. Instructor is Amber Gocken. Class meets Thursdays, March 14 to April 4 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $125, includes textbook. Course number is DAPR 331A.A16.
  • The “Intermediate Word” class focuses on working with styles, sections and columns: formatting tables; printing labels and envelopes; creating templates and using building blocks; working with graphics and objects; and managing document revisions. Microsoft Office Specialist examination objectives will be covered. Prerequisite is Introduction to Microsoft Word or equivalent experience. Instructor is Kris Condon. Class meets Wednesday, March 27 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in KCC Room D122. Cost is $125. Course number is DAPR 334A.A16.
